The Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s Legends Ride, which kicks off the Sturgis Rally on a ride from Historic Deadwood to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip Campground. The 55-mile escorted ride takes place on the official Monday start of Rally Week. Riders were treated to a Deadwood-style red-carpet experience prior to the ride at Deadwood’s Silverado-Franklin Gaming Complex and Deadwood Tobacco Co. After the ride, they received gift bags at a special reception at the Legendary Buffalo Chip, which included concerts by Buckcherry and Def Leppard. The Legends Ride reception at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip was highlighted by the sale of the Michael Prugh-designed, Western Dakota Technical Institute-built, Buffalo Chip Challenge Harley, which sold to Joe Sterling of Ten Sleep, Wyo.

“Big” Kenny Alphin (Big and Rich) and “Survivor” television series graduates Rupert Boneham and Holly Hoffman, a South Dakota native, joined the Legends Ride to support the cause. Custom bike building icons Arlen Ness and Donnie Smith stopped by for a cameo appearance. The Deadwood and Sturgis Police Departments, as well as the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, assisted with an escort to the Chip.

This was the fourth consecutive sell-out for the Legends Ride. Riders are encouraged to purchase their tickets early for the fifth annual Ride; information and tickets can be found at http://www.legendsride.com/.
